达雷尔·莫雷（Daryl Morey），NBA休斯敦火箭队总经理，于美国时间2019年10月4日晚，在推特（Twitter）发了一条含不当言论的动态，之后引起轩然大波，在网络上广泛讨论。来看看莫雷的雷言雷语原文。

中国是NBA最大的海外市场，由于姚明曾是火箭队的一员，火箭队在中国的粉丝也是巨多。美国人莫雷随便评说中国HK的现状，作为体面的公众人物-总经理，不该啊。很快，ZF出来表态：
The Chinese consulate in Houston wrote in a statement on Sunday. “We are deeply shocked by the erroneous comments on Hong Kong made by Mr. Daryl Morey.We have lodged representations and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Houston Rockets, and urged the latter to correct the error and take immediate concrete measures to eliminate the adverse impact.”
中国驻休斯敦领事馆在周日的声明中写道：“达里尔·莫雷（Daryl Morey）对香港的错误评论令我们深感震惊。我们对休斯顿火箭队作出表述并表示强烈不满，并敦促后者纠正错误并立即采取具体措施消除不利影响。”
莫雷很快删除动态，并发两段文字做出解释说明：
1/ I did not intend my tweet to cause any offense to Rockets fans and friends of mine in China. I was merely voicing one thought, based on one interpretation, of one complicated event. I have had a lot of opportunity since that tweet to hear and consider other perspectives.
一，我无意在我的推文中对火箭的球迷和我在中国的朋友造成任何伤害。我只是基于一种解释，就一个复杂事件发表自己的想法。自那条推文以来，我获得了很多机会来聆听和考虑其他观点。
2/ I have always appreciated the significant support our Chinese fans and sponsors have provided and I would hope that those who are upset will know that offending or misunderstanding them was not my intention. My tweets are my own and in no way represent the Rockets or the NBA.

“We recognize that the views expressed by Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey have deeply offended many of our friends and fans in China, which is regrettable. While Daryl has made it clear that his tweet does not represent the Rockets or the NBA, the values of the league support individuals’ educating themselves and sharing their views on matters important to them. We have great respect for the history and culture of China and hope that sports and the NBA can be used as a unifying force to bridge cultural divides and bring people together.”

NBA的表态也遭到很多所谓自由人士的不满。

When I bought controlling interest in the Brooklyn Nets in September, I didn’t expect my first public communication with our fans would be to comment on something as politically charged and grossly misunderstood as the way hundreds of millions of Chinese NBA fans feel about what just happened.

Fans in China are calling for an explanation – if they are not getting it from the Houston Rockets, then it is natural that they ask others associated with the NBA to express a view.

By now I hope you can begin to understand why the Daryl Morey tweet is so damaging to the relationship with our fans in China. I don’t know Daryl personally. I am sure he’s a fine NBA general manager, and I will take at face value his subsequent apology that he was not as well informed as he should have been. But the hurt that this incident has caused will take a long time to repair.
