It turns out that...中的that引导的不是主语从句而是表语从句。turn out表“证明是;结果是;原来是”时为系动词,可接形容词、副词、名词、不定式(常用to be)、从句(用先行词it作主语)作表语,间或接介词短语等其它结构。
在It turns out that...句式中,引导词“it”没有实际意义,在句中用作虚拟主语,指某种情况或现象,that引导表语从句说明这种情况或现象。
又例如:It turned out that he was never there. 原来他根本没去过那儿。
